Devlog #4 - Future plans



Hey everybody, it’s been a while since our last devlog ! It will be a different kind from the usuals, since we’ll talk about Endless Wander future development plan. Another devlog will be released in the following weeks, it’ll be centered on gameplay features and content.


PUBLIC ALPHA POSTPONED 


Originally, the update 0.5 was meant to go public, but as you can see it’s not really what happened. Why ? On the first hand, the update was taking too long, and if we wanted to release the alpha with the content we planned it’d have taken much longer. On the other hand, we scheduled to upload a trailer in December before the alpha release, but it wasn’t up to our standards so we wished to work on it a bit more.

We talked about it, and it came up that it will probably be for the better if we release it to the public after we’ve implemented the main quest narrative content for the first chapter (but not necessarily all the cinematic and side quests).

At the same time, Unreal Engine 5 will be out in a couple of months (before summer) and we decided that we wanted to migrate the game on it. Since it’s a process that will take a long time, and probably cause some bugs, it’d be wise to wait to finish this up before releasing an alpha version of the game to the public.

It’ll probably, maybe, we don’t really know but we think, you know us now so it may take more time but we still decided to tell this, okay it’s taking too long to say it... Be out in Q3 of this year, but no promises !

DEVLOPEMENT CYCLE


To have more feedback, we want to return to our cycle a year ago with at least a monthly update, so expect shorter and regular updates. To do so, each alpha will bring minor content (but in numerous forms), or one major feature.

With this ideal, we’ll need to expand our tester’s base. So if you know people that want to test the game, feel free to ask us !

ADVERTISING


With our new plan in mind, we decided to start advertising as soon as possible. To achieve that there is multiple steps :

  • It is no big news for the members of our discord, but we want to open it to the public. Some things will need to change to make it happen, but there will be an announce when it will open.
  • Like we said earlier, we will release a trailer of Endless Wander after working a bit more on it.
  • Our Itch.io page will be made public, so that everybody can read and comment the devlogs and learn about the game, however downloading will still be restricted to testers (if you want a key, we can provide one for the current alpha).
  • We’ll start to post some stuff on twitter, on our website (https://ederia-interactive.com/) and on the Unreal Engine subreddit
